Havyard Group AS has this summer started a new training programme where 10 youths will be working alongside Havyard staff for two weeks. This introduction programme has been introduced in order for the youngsters to learn more about the company and the shipbuilding industry.

The 10 youths are from the north-western parts of Norway and they started their work experience in Fosnavåg this Monday. Next week the group will travel to Havyard Ship Technology`s shipyard in Leirvik in Sogn, Norway.

- This is part of Havyard`s long-term recruitment strategy. We also want to take responsibility for the recruitment within the maritime industry in general and for Havyard in particular. With this project we are trying think afresh and we are willing to use the resources needed for this purpose, says HR Director Bente Nesse of Havyard Group AS.

- Youths do not know a lot about the job opportunities within the maritime industry. We are trying to pinpoint the opportunities they have over the course of the two weeks working for Havyard. In this period they will get information and we will try to highlight all aspects of the shipbuilding activity from marketing and sales, ship design until the ship has been delivered, Bente Nesse informs.

In the Fosnavåg area of Sunnmøre the youngsters will become familiar with the history of Havyard and its vision, learn about marketing and sales processes, design, procurement, projects and production and about the career opportunities that Havyard can offer and other possibilities within the maritime industry.

Next week at Havyard Ship Technology AS in Leirvik the 10 teens will learn about the shipyard and its history, they will visit Havyard`s newbuild no.102, a Havyard 832 L PSV and much more.

Havyard is planning to continue this new training programme also next year.
