Basic Offshore is a newly-established shipping company with its main focus on the market in West Africa. Basic Offshore has signed a contract with the shipyard Huangpu who has signed a contract with Havyard Global Solutions, which includes delivery of two Havyard 832 L SE designed platform supply vessels. Both ships will be delivered in 2014. The Chinese state-owned shipyard CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding CO. Ltd. constructs both larger trade tonnage as well as specialized offshore vessels. The company has an option of buying an additional six Havyard 832 L SE designed vessels from the shipyard.
Senior Vice President of Havyard Group AS, Gunnar Larsen, is very pleased with the sale of the two designs to the company in Singapore. – Basic Offshore contacted Huangpu and requested an offer for two platform supply vessels. The shipyard recommended Havyard, and our office in China was contacted. The Havyard 832 was presented for Basic Offshore and the shipping company decided to buy this design, Larsen says.
The Havyard 832 L SE Design is a platform supply vessel, and this design is an extended version of the original Havyard 832. The 832 L SE Design is larger and has bigger crew capacity. The ship is prepared for installation of offshore crane which will make it possible for the ship to do light subsea construction work.
The 832 Design has proven to be a great success and overall 20 ships of this design has been sold worldwide. – We believe that this success, together with the fact that we have employees in China who can help the yard during the construction of the vessels, have been essential for us being chosen for this project, says Larsen, and adds:
– We have great faith in Basic Offshore’s future. We know the company has ambitions of becoming one of the major players in the offshore industry in West Africa. We therefore hope that they will build more ships of this design in the future, Larsen adds.
