HST build number 133 was delivered on Thursday 11 October and HST build number 134 was taken out for a test drive on 10 October. In the early hours of Sunday 14 October, Vestrått’s test drive had been completed and approved and the vessel was ready to be delivered to Fjord1 on Thursday 18 October.

‘M/F Husavik has now been in operation for a year and a half and we have acquired two more vessels in October that will be put into operation at the turn of the year. We’re very satisfied with the vessels and, perhaps most importantly, with the good cooperation between Havyard Ship Technology and Fjord1,’ says Deon Mortensen, Technical and QHSE Director of Fjord1.
‘We’re now delivering ferries number 2 and 3 to Fjord1, and a further 10 ferries will be delivered by the end of 2019. Our focus is on delivering quality, at the right price and within the deadline, and so far, we’re doing pretty well. It is first and foremost our skilled and motivated staff who make it possible to deliver two ferries in one week, and it’s a pleasure to lead so many skilled people who work so hard and give it their all,’ says EVP Lasse Stokkeland.
‘The first hybrid ferry newbuild that Havyard delivered was HST 132 Husavik, which was a steep learning curve for us. The advantage of such challenges, however, is that we learned a great deal and this has prepared us for the ferries that are now in the making. This makes it particularly pleasing that the test drives for both HST 133 and HST 134 have gone so well,’ says Project Manager Erlend Hatleberg.
The next hybrid ferry on the list is HST build number 136, with the Havyard 936 design, which is already in the process of being fitted out at Havyard Ship Technology’s yard in Leirvik in Sogn. It will operate the Hareid - Sulesund route and will be delivered from the yard in December 2018.
