Geir Johan Bakke has been employed in Havyard Group since 2001, and he has been CEO since 2004. Geir Johan Bakke has been central to the development of the company. From being a standalone shipyard, under Geir Johan Bakke's leadership Havyard has developed into a fully integrated shipbuilding group with design, shipyards and equipment production, as well as with almost 600 permanent employees and an order book of over NOK 4300 million.
Vegard Sævik, Chairman of the Havyard Group, points out that Geir Johan Bakke has been a dynamic and committed CEO with whom he has worked well, both in his time as a Board Member and later as Chairman. “Geir Johan has been incredibly important to the development Havyard Group has been through. He has shown an impressive commitment to developing the Group, which is of great importance to the communities in which Havyard operates.”
Geir Johan Bakke has been working for Havyard for over 18 years, and the last 15 years he served as top leader of the group.
“It has been an amazing journey that I am both grateful and proud to have been a part of. I wish the company good luck for the future.” The retiring CEO has stated his willingness to be available to the company for some time to come if needed.
The parties have agreed not to comment further on the matter. The Board of Havyard Group has appointed Gunnar Larsen as interim CEO. He will immediately begin the work of recruiting a permanent CEO.
Gunnar Larsen comes from the position of General Manager of the Havyard Production & Service business area, he is Senior Vice President of Market & Business Development in Havyard Group and has been with Havyard for 12 years.
